Ryder Cup Style Matches

The Douglas Cup is held, ever two years to coincide and recreate the Ryder Cup spirit between PGCC members. The members are split into 2 competitive teams playing, 9 holes best ball, 9 holes Alternate shot and 9 homes individual matches. This event is run by PGCC members, for PGCC members, to provide the most enjoyable competitive team event possible. This last two Douglas Cup matches were events to remember. The Douglas Cup is for the enjoyment of all equity members followed by a Gala Dinner Dance in the Ballroom.

The 2010 version of the Douglas Cup will feature Captains Ivan Borodiak' Blue Team versus Captain Jeff Douglas' Red Team. The captains will select players alternatively from the members who sign up before September 15, 2010. Each team will consist of 36 golfers divided into 4 categories of like handicaps. Each handicap group will compete against golfers with similar handicaps. The teams and tee positions will be determined at the Pairing party Thursday September 23.

The competition will be played Friday, September 24, shotgun start at 8:30. The match will be played in Ryder Cup format with nine holes of Best Ball, nine holes of Alternate shot, followed by lunch. At 2:00 the Captains will seed the 12 best players to play the final nine in singles matches while the other players will follow and cheer. The event is limited to 72 golfers, we have 47 sign ups from previous Douglas Cup players leaving 25 slots to fill from other equity members, please RSVP - ASAP.

Linda Douglas has planned a Friday night extravaganza including cocktails, dinner, with entertainment, and games for the children to be held at the Parkland Sports Club ballroom beginning at 7 PM.
