2008 DOUGLAS CUP CHAMPS

The tournament produced 32 – 1st and 2nd place finishers, the real winners were the 64 members that came together to have a thoroughly enjoyable 3 days.

The event started with a pairing party Thursday evening when the two captains Douglas and Bardales revealed there team members and seated teams and singles matches. The match results are available at Results and the pairing can be viewed at Pairings.

We teed off on Friday afternoon with 64 PGCC finest members in shot gun start of either Best Ball or Alternate Shot 9 hole matches. The 16 Teams of two played for a possibility of 32 total points the first day. The White team earned a substantial advantage leading by 19 to 12 points when the day was complete.

Friday evening 100 people assembled in the Ball Room with the wives to rejoice, dine, dance, cocktails and meet old friends and meet many new PGCC members. The Italian food was excellent the music by Terry Cooper was excellent and the friendships renewed or started were the tone for the evening. Linda Douglas introduced a new tradition of providing Beta Fish to 12 children of members and will provide a special prize for the one child that keeps there fish alive the longest. The fish report will be placed on the front page within 2 days for the children to send report.

Saturday morning the membership struggled to the tee, complaining they partied to heavily the night before. The singles matches started at 11AM and by 4:45 the white team had exceed the number of points required to win the 2nd Annual Douglas Cup 34-20. The trophy was presented on the 18 green and then Captain Douglas was urged to provide the ceremonial dive into the lake.

To All the participants, there wives significant others and children: We made this effort for the old members, our friends and the new members that we will call old friends in 2010. This was the Douglas’ opportunity to show how great a event can be and should be at PGCC. We thank the many staff that assisted us in our efforts.

Linda and I moved into Parkland Golf in October 2005 in the Gables section. We have four children and 9 grandchildren. I am founder and owner of Media Vue and MVI solutions in Fort Lauderdale. A graduate and supporter of U of Miami, and a MBA from NYU.

I Love all sports but golf has a very special place in my life. Linda and I have enjoyed the wonderful friends and neighbors that we have met. This golf tournament is our way of celebrating with the members of PGCC

RAMON BARDALES

Cuban Born and raised in Miami. CEO of several companies related to outpatient medical imaging and medical real estate. Three terrific children, ages- 22, 21 & 15. I enjoy playing golf and enjoying a good cigar. Currently living at The Caseras and recently broke ground across the 9th Green at PGCC. I enjoy spending time with family and my many new friends at PGCC!!!
